For the gambler who is interested in finding help Gamblers Anonymous is available. Like AA and NA it works with the gambler and his or her family. For those who really want the help the sponsor will even notify the family to let them know whether the gambler has attended the meeting on a given night. This allows the family time to discover if there is backsliding going on or if the gambler is meeting his promises and obligations.

Having a sponsor and the backing of family is an important part of a gambler’s rehabilitation. If he waits until he loses everything to seek help he is less likely to complete the program and remain away from the temptation than those who still have their jobs and families to support them in their efforts.
